Toleration-ships

Single vs. monogamy is no contest

One searches for the next younger conquest

The other settles for one who will make a nest

It's up to you, a crest on your chest or just a guest,

Natural instincts aren't meant to be controlled

Least you want a union that's patrolled

Safety is her focus through hocus pocus

Discard the illusion, and avoid the confusion of delusion,

To enhance your soul, is their fairy-tale goal

Choosing a fleeting mate is all that it takes

Keeping them around is for a clown

Thinking like the herd, is absurd,

What do you receive for your effort

A house, a kid or two, maybe even a pet for comfort

Now you live in world tamed by your partner

Who's done nothing but turn you into a gardner,

She's trading her youth for your protection

An illusion she hopes to pull off without detection

Her youth is short, she knows this all too well

Stop, sniff, and listen, you'll here the bell,

It's that high pitched ringing in your ear

Warning you that trouble is near

Nature baits her hook oh so very well

But you can tell by your sense of smell,

Signs are everywhere hidden in plain sight

The trap is set and once caught you can't fight

Nature gives her the means to be irresistible

But if you're smart you can side step this debacle,

Nature starts her clock at birth

Their instincts are at work from the get go

Only local social values limit her show

She's on the prowl on every patch of turf,

There's no venue that's too taboo

You can see them at work at every stage of age

Flaunting, flirting, & skirting the rules looking for fools

In the hopes of landing one, to spoil your fun,

A mastermind who's bag of tricks is shameless

Looking for someone to make her not one who is nameless

It's been going on for more than a century

The search for her very own sentry,

Sorting out the maze is nothing too serious

It's a matter of seeing the signs she possesses

All you need to keep from being delirious

Is never allow yourself to be possessive,

But oh the fun to watch them from afar

As they tempt and dangle their charms

Promising there is no harm

But beware of the underlying Jafar,

And watching the others already joined is priceless

It's like going to a wall-less zoo

There is nothing they can do

Except to pretend they're with a princess,

The heartbreaking truth of the matter is

No matter how hard you try

You're stuck till one of you's die

No escape, it is what it is!,

Toleration-ship is the condition

In which there is no dishing

You trade your freedom

For a life of boredom,

You must now check in and comply

Always waiting for a reply

Hoping for some thing else to come by

And release you from your deny,

You could be out tripping from town to town

With nothing holding you down

Living your life as a free and single stallion

Instead you're stuck in a tomb-like galleon,

The choice is your but the odds are stacked

You'll always be attacked

By the opposite sex to make you a gelding

Once you've produced offspring with a sibling,

Well, no thank you very much

To live a life as such

Can never be reasoned

In any season,

So take your best shot

It will take a lot more than a pretty facade

To make this old horse live in a world so caught

Single, free and happy is not all that odd,

I hear them say "you'll be old, sad and lonely”

This is the fear they have of not finding a mate

Just because we can always find a date

Makes their story one of baloney,

It's not the same for men as it is for women

But they use this dilemma to make you question your decision

The rejection of their offer sends them into dissension

Exposing their true colors in which they are living,

So don't be too easily lead astray

You only have one life to live each day

Spend you life as Nature intended

Not how others would like you to pretend it!
